Network Load Balancer

Oracle Cloud integration · 33 node(s).

00Overview

Provision and operate Oracle Cloud Layer 3/4 network load balancers straight from a flow: create and delete balancers, attach listeners on TCP, UDP or L3IP ports, build backend sets with tuple-hash policies and health checks, and add, drain or remove individual backend servers. Read live health and operational status for a balancer, its backend sets and each backend, move a balancer between compartments, and replace its network security groups. Every change runs as a work request you can poll to confirm it finished.

Every field below is exactly what you see in the Flomation editor. Fields marked ● live picker let you choose from a list pulled live from your account — no IDs to look up.

01Connecting Network Load Balancer

  1. Decide how the node authenticates using the Authentication dropdown: Connect Oracle Cloud uses a saved Oracle Cloud connection you pick in the Oracle Cloud connection field, while API signing key (advanced) lets you supply the key material directly on the node.
  2. For the key method, sign in to the OCI Console, open the Profile menu (top-right) → My profile, then under Resources choose API keys → Add API key, generate a new key pair and download the private key.
  3. After the key is added, OCI shows a configuration file preview — copy its values into the node's Tenancy OCID, User OCID, Key Fingerprint and Region fields (enter the region as its identifier, e.g. uk-london-1).
  4. Set the Compartment OCID to the compartment your load balancers live in; individual actions also take a Subnet OCID or resource OCID you copy from the relevant resource's details page in the console.
  5. Store the downloaded PEM as a Flomation environment secret (e.g. networkloadbalancer_secret) and pick it in the node's Private Key (PEM) field; if the key is encrypted, add its Private Key Passphrase as a secret too.

08Notes & Limitations

Behaviours and constraints worth knowing before you build with these nodes.

  • Most create, update and delete actions run asynchronously: they hand back a work-request id immediately, so poll Get Work Request until it reports SUCCEEDED before treating the change as live.
  • Create Network Load Balancer returns the new OCID right away, but the balancer is still provisioning, so wait until its work request reaches SUCCEEDED before adding listeners or backend sets.
  • Updating the network security groups replaces the entire attached set rather than merging into it, so leaving the OCID field empty detaches every network security group from the balancer.
  • List actions stop after a bounded number of pages, so in compartments holding very large numbers of resources the returned list may be truncated.
  • A newly added backend reports an UNKNOWN health status until the backend set's health checker has completed its first probes.
