Load Balancer

Oracle Cloud integration · 61 node(s).

00Overview

Provision Layer-7 load balancers and wire up everything in front of your application from a flow — create backend sets and add backend servers, open listeners on the ports and protocols you serve, and steer traffic with hostnames, path-route sets and routing policies. Manage SSL by uploading certificate bundles and cipher suites, adjust the shape and bandwidth as demand changes, and move a load balancer between compartments. Read backend and load-balancer health, and poll the work request behind every change so a flow only continues once the update has actually landed.

Every field below is exactly what you see in the Flomation editor. Fields marked ● live picker let you choose from a list pulled live from your account — no IDs to look up.

01Connecting Load Balancer

  1. Open the node's Authentication dropdown and choose a method. Connect Oracle Cloud (recommended) uses a managed connection that Flomation provisions for you; API signing key (advanced) lets you paste an existing OCI signing key by hand.
  2. For Connect Oracle Cloud, go to your Flomation environment's connections and add an Oracle Cloud connection: Flomation generates a signing keypair and walks you through creating a dedicated least-privilege user in Oracle Cloud and uploading Flomation's public key. Paste the resulting User OCID back into Flomation, pick the compartment and test the connection — Oracle can take a short while to activate a new key, so let the test retry.
  3. Back in the node, leave Authentication on Connect Oracle Cloud and select your connection in the Oracle Cloud connection field — the tenancy, user, region and fingerprint are filled in for you.
  4. For API signing key (advanced), in the Oracle Cloud Console open Profile → User settings → API keys and choose Add API key. Generate or upload a key, then copy the Configuration file preview Oracle shows you — it lists your Tenancy OCID, User OCID, Region and Key Fingerprint. Paste each into the matching node field, and set the Compartment OCID (from Identity → Compartments) to the compartment your load balancers live in.
  5. Store the private key as a Flomation environment secret (e.g. loadbalancer_secret) and pick it in the node's Private Key (PEM) field — paste the full PEM including the BEGIN/END lines — and add a Private Key Passphrase secret only if your key is encrypted.

15Notes & Limitations

Behaviours and constraints worth knowing before you build with these nodes.

  • Every create, update and delete action is asynchronous and returns a work-request id rather than the finished resource, so use Get Work Request to poll until the request reaches SUCCEEDED before a later step depends on the change.
  • Update actions read the resource's current configuration first and seed any field you leave blank from it, so an optional field left empty keeps its existing value rather than clearing it.
  • Sub-resources are addressed by their name within a load balancer rather than by their own OCID — a backend set, listener, hostname or certificate by its name, and an individual backend by its ip:port.
  • The Oracle Cloud API has no direct read for an individual listener, so fetch the parent load balancer with Get Load Balancer to see its listeners and their configuration.
  • Updates that replace a whole list — routing-policy rules, path routes, rule-set items and network security groups — overwrite the entire existing set with what you supply rather than merging, so include every entry you want to keep; to remove all of a load balancer's network security groups, supply an empty list.
  • A certificate bundle is immutable and cannot be deleted while a listener or backend set still references it, so update SSL by first re-pointing the reference, then deleting and recreating the bundle.
