00Overview

Provision and manage Oracle Cloud OKE Kubernetes clusters straight from a flow — create clusters, add and scale managed node pools or serverless virtual node pools, install add-ons such as cert-manager or the Kubernetes Dashboard, and generate a kubeconfig to hand to a downstream kubectl or Helm step. Track every asynchronous change through its work request, read node pools, virtual nodes, add-ons and pod shapes, rotate cluster credentials, and manage workload mappings without leaving the editor.

Every field below is exactly what you see in the Flomation editor. Fields marked ● live picker let you choose from a list pulled live from your account — no IDs to look up.

01Connecting Container Engine

  1. Every action starts with an Authentication method: Connect Oracle Cloud uses a managed connection you set up once (recommended), while API signing key (advanced) lets you paste raw OCI signing-key credentials directly on the node.
  2. Connect Oracle Cloud (recommended): in your Flomation environment, add an Oracle Cloud (API key) connection — give it a name plus your Tenancy OCID and Region, then click Deploy to Oracle Cloud. That opens a ready-made Resource Manager stack in your tenancy (cloud.oracle.com) which creates a dedicated least-privilege user and uploads Flomation's public key for you.
  3. Apply the stack, copy the new user's User OCID from its outputs back into the wizard, click Connect, then Test — allow up to about 90 seconds for Oracle Cloud to activate the key before the test turns green. On the node, set Authentication to Connect Oracle Cloud and pick this connection in the Oracle Cloud connection field.
  4. API signing key (advanced): in the OCI Console open the profile menu → My profile → API keys → Add API key, download the generated private key, and copy the Configuration file preview values — these give you the Tenancy OCID, User OCID, Key Fingerprint and Region to paste into the matching node fields.
  5. Set Compartment OCID to the compartment your clusters live in (Console → Identity & Security → Compartments) — list and create actions are scoped to it.
  6. Store the private key PEM as a Flomation environment secret (e.g. containerengine_secret) and select it in the node's Private Key (PEM) field, adding the Private Key Passphrase only if your key is encrypted.

11Notes & Limitations

Behaviours and constraints worth knowing before you build with these nodes.

  • Every create, update, delete, reboot, scale and credential-rotation action runs asynchronously: it returns a work_request_id rather than the finished resource, so a flow should poll Get Work Request until the status reads SUCCEEDED before the cluster, node pool or new endpoint is ready to use.
  • Requesting a public API endpoint on Cluster Create without also supplying an API Endpoint Subnet OCID is rejected up front rather than silently ignored, so pair the two whenever you want a public endpoint.
  • Create Kubeconfig points at the cluster's public API endpoint by default, so a private-only cluster needs the Endpoint field switched to the private endpoint or VCN hostname and a flow that has network reach to it.
  • Once a credential rotation starts, both the new and the superseded credentials stay valid until Complete Credential Rotation is run or the auto-completion delay elapses, at which point the old material is retired automatically.
  • List actions walk at most 25 pages, so in unusually large compartments the returned set may not include every cluster, node pool or work request.
